Medium surface-mounted body

The standard surface-mounted body, fixed to the door leaf with the arm running to the frame above. The most widely used style for residential entrances and office doors.

What you can adjust

Two-stage closing speed

The main swing and the final latch are adjusted separately — the factory quotes 180°–15° for the sweep and 15°–0° for the latch. In practice that means you can slow the door down without leaving it too weak to push the latch home.

These are the factory's own adjustment ranges, not tested performance figures under EN 1154.

Taken from our own packaging label, which states it as a minimum. For context, EN 1154's durability test runs to 500,000 cycles, so this is double what the standard asks. Ask us for the test basis if the figure matters to your specification.

Inside the body

• Alloy steel gear, with the piston given three extra precision-finishing operations.
• Rack-and-pinion hydraulic action, with the closing speed and the latch controlled by separate valves.
• Imported seals and needle bearings, which is what the factory credits for its leak resistance.
• High-performance spring structure, so the closing force holds up over the life of the unit.

Choosing the right size

Standard doors. At this width and weight rating, G801 typically covers residential entrance doors and ordinary office and corridor doors. This is the most common size band for both homes and light commercial fit-outs.

The power size is 3, set at the factory rather than adjusted on site. Power size is the industry's way of matching a closer to a door: the larger the number, the wider and heavier the leaf it is built to close. Choose the size that matches your door rather than the largest available — an oversized closer makes a door hard to push open, and an undersized one will not latch reliably.

Check before you order

• Measure the door leaf width and compare it with the 950 mm limit. Measure the leaf itself, not the frame opening.
• Check the door weight: this model is rated up to 65 kg. If you cannot weigh it, tell us the leaf size, material and thickness and we will estimate it.
• Exterior doors and doors in draughty corridors face wind pressure the specification does not account for. If the door is exposed, say so — it can push the choice up a power size.
