What EN 1154 and the available fire-door documents cover

What the standard is for

EN 1154 covers controlled door closing devices: how they are classified, what power sizes mean, and how they are tested — including a durability test measured in opening and closing cycles. It is the reference a specification points at when it asks for a closer of a given size and performance.

It is a standard about closers. It is not, by itself, a fire-door approval, and a closer that conforms to it is not thereby approved for every fire-rated opening.

What we hold, and what each document covers

Our certificates page lists the documents we hold, with the models each one names and the scope each one states. Three things about them are worth saying here plainly:

• They are held by or issued to our parent manufacturer, Zhaoqing Gemei Precision Hardware Co., Ltd. They are not certificates issued in the QIHENGDoorControls brand name.
• Each one applies to the models listed in it. Where a document's model list is ambiguous about which of our models it means, we have deliberately not mapped it to a model rather than guessing in our favour.
• A series name is not a certification. Our fire-engineering series is a product family; membership of it is not evidence that a specific model is approved for a specific opening.

What to ask for

• Name the model, the opening and the market. Ask us for the document that covers that combination.
• If we do not hold one that covers it, we will tell you so rather than sending something adjacent.
• Give your own approvals process the document and its stated scope, and let it judge. That is what the scope is for.

Cycle-life figures shown on our model pages come from our own packaging label, which states them as a minimum. They are not a substitute for a test report, and we will send the basis if the figure matters to your specification.
